Firdous
Ashiq Awan's harsh words with Assistant Commissioner Sialkot Sonia Sadaf,
Condemnation of Punjab Chief Secretary
Punjab
Chief Minister's Special Assistant for Information Firdous Ashiq Awan was under
discussion on Twitter in Pakistan on Sunday evening and his name remained a top
trend.
The reason
for this is the videos of his visit to Ramzan Bazaar in which Assistant
Commissioner Sialkot Sonia Sadaf and Firdous Ashiq Awan are seen arguing over
the quality of fruits.
Then in
another video, Firdous Ashiq Awan regularly scolds Sonia Sadaf and says that
her actions are not the same as those of the AC (Assistant Commissioner).
After about
2 minutes of these videos, social media users in Pakistan are divided in this
regard. Most believe that the tone and manner of Firdous Ashiq Awan was not
correct while there are some who think that this is how the 'bureaucracy'
should be treated.
On the
other hand, Chief Secretary Punjab Jawad Rafique Malik while reacting to the
Sialkot incident said that he condemned the rude treatment of the
administrative officer.
He said
that the concerns regarding this tragic incident have been conveyed to the
Chief Minister of Punjab Usman Bazdar. Using unethical language with an officer
or staff is reprehensible.
Rafiq Malik
said that administrative officers all over Punjab are present in the field day
and night for the convenience of the people which is commendable. Jawad Rafiq
Malik said that it does not befit anyone to humiliate government officials.
Greetings for hard work and courage
In a video,
Firdous Ashiq Awan and Sonia Sadaf are seen at a fruit stall where Firdous
Ashiq Awan points out the allegedly bad fruit and tells the assistant
commissioner that the bureaucracy is being manipulated by the government.
Assistant
Commissioner Sialkot tells her about the bad fruit, "It is (spoiled) from
the heat," to which Firdous Ashiq Awan tells her, "Change it
immediately, it is your duty and the duty of your staff."
She angrily
tells Sonia Sadaf to 'pick up third class fruit from here' and when Sonia Sadaf
says that she has visited Firdous Ashiq Awan twice before, Firdous Ashiq Awan
says, 'You get paid for this thing. Yes, I do not take salary for this thing,
to which the Assistant Commissioner says, "Madam, it is possible to talk
comfortably."
Then in
another video, Firdous Ashiq Awan angrily tells the Assistant Commissioner that
he seems to be lagging behind her and says that we (ever) find you from
somewhere. Are
On this,
Firdous Ashiq Awan unilaterally scolds the Assistant Commissioner in a bitter
manner and says, "Rush is for everyone, have you come down from the
sky?"
After a few
more words from Firdous Ashiq Awan, Sonia Sadaf leaves and Firdous Ashiq Awan
continues her anger behind her, saying, 'You sit in the VIP drawing rooms,
which way is yours. '
Opinions
on Twitter were divided.
Hassan
Khawar, a user, wrote, "Public reprimand of government employees may gain
political popularity, but it will demoralize those who want to implement your
policies."
At the
bottom of his tweet, a user named Noman Hassan wrote in reply that you mean
that these DMG (District Management Group) officers can scold anyone but no one
can scold them?
He added
that none of them are accessible to the general public, in fact they have an idea
of their power but not of their responsibilities.
